PHUKET
THE WEDDING ISLAND (ALMOST!)
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand, situated at the southern end of the country.
If you want to get technical, the venue is actually on the mainland, but the area is still referred to as Phuket. The airport is at the northern tip of Phuket island, and it's just a 20 minute drive north across the bridge to Natai Beach (Aleenta and Akyra).

Why not stay a few days more and explore the area. There are many islands off the island! Like Phi Phi island where 'The Beach' was filmed, or Khao Phing Kan where James Bond (The Man with the Golden Gun) was filmed. Check out the links below for things to do in Phuket, or scroll down to see a few suggestions, including places to enjoy relaxing beach cocktails, to nightlife that can be, well, adventurous!

Patong
Nightlife and Craziness!
Patong is Thailand's infamous touristy (and tacky) beach resort town on the west coast of Phuket island, facing the Andaman Sea. Its sandy, crescent beach is lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. The famously raucous nightlife scene, including Phuket's Gay bars and clubs, features beer bars, go-go bars, nightclubs, dodgy massage parlours and cabarets that overflow into the street along neon-lit Bangla Road. Not for the fainthearted.
Kata
Beaches and Nightlife
The pleasant bay of Kata, just a few minutes south of Karon Beach, entices and charms many visitors with its white sands and clear waters. Very popular with families, Kata is an all-round favourite due to its pretty palm-lined beach, great restaurants, lively but not raucous nightlife and varied accommodation options.

Big Budda
Views for days!
Phuket's Big Buddha is one of the most important and revered landmarks on the island. The huge statue sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and, at 45 metres tall, can be seen from as far away as Phuket Town and Karon Beach.
Phi Phi
Stay overnight to avoid the crowded days
The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand, between Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. The islands have been made famous by the film 'The Beach'. We plan to visit here after the wedding, for anyone who wishes to join us.

Khao Phing Kan
James Bond Island
Located in Phang Nga Bay, in northeast Phuket, Khao Phing Kan is a collection of limestone towers, some of which are up to 40 metres tall. For any James Bond fans out there, you'll recognise these islands from 'The Man with the Golden Gun'.
